There are many e-wallets available in today’s digital world, and they are linked to your bank accounts. This allows people to complete their monetary transactions digitally without exchanging hard cash. The user can link “n” number of bank account numbers and credit card numbers with their wallet; but few know how to change primary account in Paytm. For ease of understanding, we are taking the example of Paytm since both consumers and merchants use this e-platform widely.
When the Paytm app is installed on your device, you fill all the required details, including your bank account number; to which the Paytm UPI is to be linked. The app automatically considers this account number as your primary account through which transactions will take place.
But if the users add multiple bank accounts to the Paytm interface; the app asks you to select an account as a default or primary account through which the transaction needs to occur. It is necessary to select the primary account in Paytm UPI so that if money is transferred to you through Paytm UPI; it will be credited to your chosen account.
You have an option to change primary account in Paytm if, in the future, you open another bank account, or you have closed the existing bank account.
The process to change primary account in Paytm is very simple and can be easily done by any user.
Steps to Change Primary Account In Paytm
- Open the Paytm app on your device.
- Now, tap on your Profile icon and then tap on “Settings“.
- Now, tap on “Settings“.
- Tap on “Payment Settings“.
- And then open “Saved Payment Details“.
- It will show you the list of bank account numbers that you have registered on the app; and it will also show you the current primary account in the app.
- Select the bank account number you wish to be a primary account for Paytm UPI.
- A series of options will be shown, of which one will be made primary, select it; and the account number will become the primary account.
Steps to Remove Primary Account In Paytm
If you wish to remove the existing primary account number from the Paytm UPI, you need to follow the below procedure.
- Open the Paytm app on your device.
- Now, tap on your profile icon and then tap on “Settings“.
- Now, tap on “Payment Settings“. And then open “Saved Payment Details“.
- The list of bank account numbers registered on Paytm UPI will be shown.
- Select the account number under which primary is mentioned.
- Now, tap on “Remove bank” option to remove it.
Once you have removed the primary account; Paytm UPI will ask you to select another account as primary from the list; follow the above-mentioned procedure. But if you had only one account registered in Paytm UPI and you removed it; then to use the Paytm UPI feature, you will have to add another account.
