Instagram launched a recently deleted feature that will help users to store the data deleted from posts, stories, IGTV videos, and reels and it also boosts your data security. Such a feature was in demand for a long (Instagram blog).

How Does Recently Deleted Feature Work?

Earlier, if you used to delete any photo or post it was not possible to retrieve it. However, with the launch of this new feature, you can retrieve any picture, post, IGTV video, and reel easily.

For pictures, posts, IGTV videos, and reels it can be retrieved up to 30 days while the time limit for stories is only up to 24hrs.

What type of data can be retrieved and how?

Instagram provides services like a post that includes pictures, IGTV videos, reels, and stories. It lets you restore archived data as well.

To retrieve the data follow the steps given below.

  • Go to the Profile.
  • Tap on the Settings.
  • Select Account.
  • Access Recently Deleted.

This feature will protect your account’s data to be deleted by hackers. The algorithm works in such a way that it will first confirm your identity before letting you delete any post or picture from your account.

The limit for retrieving data is up to 30 days that works the same for the archive data. That means if any data has been deleted from the archives then it can be retrieved from the ‘Recently Deleted ‘ feature also.

For many of you who use Google Photos will find it similar in use. Instagram uses the folder just as the trash in Google Photos and gives you a chance to retrieve the data that existed there for 30 days.
